Ok, just wanted to have this to discuss the time slips thread...

:) :phone:

updating... i was just reading EVIL247's time slip..

holy crap....

you ran a stupendous 1/4 mile for your MPH...

holy crap...
you are running the same 1/4 mile as I am but you are doing it with 4 mph LESS !

that means that you have something special going on there... I think it might be the slicks...

Congrats !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

02-14-2005, 12:56 PM
probably the slicks, look at the 60ft time.
gotta get me some slicks

02-15-2005, 02:34 PM
Yeah I saw that too. If I could get the mph up with the same 60' that would be nice. Too bad the DRs are gone and the clutch is slippin.

02-16-2005, 01:23 PM
evil, what altitude are you at, and what were the track conditions?

Im just curious, because I trapped at 83.6 mph with just an intake...and dynoed at 120whp like that.

02-16-2005, 02:55 PM
Sea level (FL) Track conditions where ok. Was a test and tune so the track wasn't supersticky

02-16-2005, 04:54 PM
hrmm, it just seems that you should have been more than 2-3mph faster than me given your mods and dyno charts

02-16-2005, 11:58 PM
the drag radials bring down your trap speeds

03-05-2005, 05:52 PM
tharptroy-are you drivin an auto or manual?

03-05-2005, 08:38 PM
are my times so bad that you needed to ask?

its a manual. I'll post it on the slip part...I forgot to add that

EDIT: and in response to me being the zen master of milking a stock car...

you're lucky I didnt have time to take off the rear bumper cover.

I bet I could have gotten a 16.0x

if I really wanted to, I know I could get at least another 100lbs off of the weight too.

that weight was with me in it, my XD comes in at about 2660lbs

pretty crazy to think that I could knock another half second off of my time with drag tires.

$300 for .5 seconds in the 1/4 mile isnt bad

I saw an integra in the pits with slicks, so I decided to go say Hi.

They were some of the coolest damned people I've ever met at a track.
turns out, the owner is in my ME 1105 class at UTA.

his car ran an 11.7 at 124mph! (full interior on pump gas!)

looks completely stock too, his huge FMIC is painted flat black. I love it.

as a side note, sorry for the choppy post, Im doped up on coffee

EDIT: dont you guys hate the edit button?

I wonder just how much I could milk out of this car on these street tires while everything is still basically stock (engine wise, just intake and exhaust stuff), sounds like I may need to work on that.

03-06-2005, 01:54 PM
lol, new post.

PUMBAA, what was your raceweight?

03-06-2005, 03:34 PM
tharptroy: Well I didn't weigh it prior to racing, but the door says GVWR 3945lbs, I'm assuming that is with a full tank of gas. I had 1/4 or less of gas, and I weigh in at a fat 135lbs an I had the spair tire and jack out. So you can make some conclusions. I have a GT hatch to, so you know its beefy already. I would have liked to have weighed it, but they didn't have a weigh station. I don't know what the actual weight is. If I find a weigh station I'll try and reweigh it with the same specs as when I raced.

03-06-2005, 05:04 PM
my extra 50 lbs of blubber probably would have made up for any weight reduction that I had over you if you had a GLS.

so you probably weigh around 2950 if I had to guess

edit: based on MPH. I'd guess that our horsepower levels are about the same

GVWR is the maximum allowable weight for the vehicle

03-07-2005, 02:20 PM
Yeah, they don't give a good estimate on what the GT weighs. What HP are you running again? I know there is a calculator that is posted that says I have 120whp, but that is off, I show on the dyno 128whp and 133lb/ft, as we've discussed. I also think my rims were holding me back, cause they are 6lbs heavier than stock each. So my savings of the spare tire and jack didn't really make a difference. Next time I go I'm gonna use the stock rims and see what difference that makes.

03-07-2005, 04:38 PM
well, while it may increase your HP (trap speed), the stockers may hurt your 60' enough to offset the power gain....

trap speed is probably the most accurate way to estimate the engine's ability to accelerate (I said it, BETTER than a dyno, but its obviously more practical to do tuning on a dyno)

notice how consistent the trap speeds were on everyone's runs (with the exception of me, fooling with stuff)

the horsepower calculator I used came up with a 145 horsepower based on my traps and weight, and 143 horsepower based on the weight I guessed you had, and your trap speed.

dont use ET calculators for HP estimates, as having drag tires could knock as much as half a second off of your ET...and you wouldnt have increased power at all.

the MPH readings are pretty consistent (at our hp levels) as long as you dont mess up badly on the run. even a bad launch wont change your trap speeds much

EDIT: by the way, I havent dynoed my screwy setup.

03-07-2005, 04:53 PM
I weighed my GT in Federal Way last summer and it was 3650 with 3 people and my speaker box inside. Ford and I also were discussing the weight on the car and we figure the car averages 2800 pounds for the GLS.

03-07-2005, 04:54 PM
Yeah, they don't give a good estimate on what the GT weighs. .When I got my gt weighed at the junk yard last year it came out to 2900 pounds give or take a few pounds as for my trap speed it was some where around 84-85 mph I cant remember. But my 60 ft sucked

03-08-2005, 01:13 AM
I may see if I can run down to the weigh station on I-5 near Enchanted village late at night when its closed and roll in and get a quick weight of the car as it was when I raced. Plus air temp can also make a little difference, It was around 54 degrees that day. With a wind resistance directly against the front of the car of about 8mph

03-08-2005, 10:44 AM
its was about 60 degrees here, high humidity. it was a little breezy, but I honestly have no idea which way the wind was blowing.

BTW. the auto trans adds another 100lbs or so, ccnglthr

That is where I weighed mine after the meet in August. They usually are closed once it is dark, about 7 pm.

guys please stay on topic. You can start a new topic regarding weight :)

04-30-2005, 02:24 AM
bah. never mind. i forgot about that thread.
anyways, nice times. good to see the progress, kinda marks generally where people should be with the listed mods. low 15's. i guess it's not all that impossible for EVOXD (i think..) to make 14.9X... *shrug* anyways, nice times and keep it up man.

i installed the twm shifter and did ford's bushing mod as well.. with quiksteel. it feels SO nice. now i just wanna shift... who care about driving? it's all about shifting!! haha jk. it's very nice. thanks.

04-30-2005, 02:45 AM
hey i put up my slips when i was asked unlike someone cough cough
if the video still works its good for a laugh
glad to hear you like the shifter
i know im gonna miss it.

04-30-2005, 03:15 AM
Good times man :) I know you can do better than that though :)

04-30-2005, 07:41 AM
Hey OdessitPashka, I just saw your time slip in the other thread, what lane where you in? where you in the 14's or 15's?

04-30-2005, 07:45 AM
I'm the 15 second car :)

04-30-2005, 06:23 PM
yea its getting there. ive added a crank pulley and cam gear so as soon as i get my car goin again ill be back at the track to see if i can crack 14s. then ill have to hunt down some drag radials and see what will happen.

05-01-2005, 03:22 AM
Definitely keep us updated man :)

I plan on braking into 14s very soon :) Just need to fix my alignment.

05-02-2005, 09:04 AM
hey i put up my slips when i was asked unlike someone cough cough.

Hey- what did you race against in your last timeslip? .039 R/T, 140 mph... whew!

05-02-2005, 01:55 PM
that was my car
ha no it was a 68 camaro the video of it is in that thread i posted above

05-03-2005, 03:28 PM
man...that 1/4 mile calculator told me that I should be able to run a 15.7 with the trap speeds I have. maybe when I get the new clutch in, along with some slightly stiffer springs, I can get closer to those times.

05-03-2005, 03:34 PM
what trap speeds do you have?

That calculator is for RWD cars mostly, so subtract a mile or so from your trap speed.

05-03-2005, 10:59 PM
86.78mph on my best run...of course, looking at my 60' times, there is an EASY 3 tenths to be picked up there (provided that I knew how to drive)

05-03-2005, 11:06 PM
87mph should bring you to high 15s with traction :)

05-03-2005, 11:18 PM
looking at the wear on my tires, it appears as though I now have positive camber, and it feels like I dont have traction in high RPM in first gear (obviously not because I have too much horsepower).

im going to work on getting my 60 foot times improved before I go to the track.

im wanting to set up some way of electronically measuring 60' times (precisely) so that I can "tune" my launch skills.

05-03-2005, 11:23 PM
Get your alignment fixed first then for practicing, just try different RPMs to start with, try slipping the clutch, etc You will feel for yourself when you got traction, when you spun, or when you bogged.

05-07-2005, 09:02 AM
WOW I just pulled a 16.41 with a bone stock 5-speed? seems fast to me :) and I still had a CRAP 60' what did you guys run stock?

05-07-2005, 09:11 AM
awesome times for a fully stock car !

I never got to run mine stock as I modified it the first day I brought it home ! LOL

05-07-2005, 10:17 AM
What Im wondering is how you got a low trap speed for a 16.4 (I think anyway) AND a bad 60ft? If you launched bad then picked up enough speed to get a 16.4 the trap should have been higher than normal. Being faster off the line keeps trap speeds for given e/ts down. For example of that check out the diffs between sport compact turbo and N/a classes. Maybe its just me but something seems weird about that. Not calling BS on you, maybe the timing system you where on. Maybe a better explination could had if you know if that track does corrections for temp/sea level. That might explain that.. or you and your car are weird.

05-07-2005, 12:08 PM
nah, look at this pass I made

1st run of the night-
reset ECU

man, I cant wait to make it back to the track!

im looking for 15s =)

05-07-2005, 12:10 PM
At first I was thinking the timing was screwy but my buddy with a 2003 Mustang Cobra was running 2-3 10th's slower at this track which is traditionaly slower than normal.

I don't think 84.7mph is all that slow for mid 16's I was thinkig it was kinda high.

I dono I'm going to another track next weekend to see if I can back it up.

05-07-2005, 12:20 PM
What altitude is the track at? It could explain the lower trap speeds. You should be about 1mph higher, but it's still very believable! Good job for a bone stock car :)

I never run my car bone stock, but with Warm air intake I got 16.3, and that was when I just got the car and was still learning how to drive stick!

I just saw your second time slip and you got 80mph trap speed on it? That's some weird shizzle man!

05-07-2005, 05:37 PM
lol I let out of it mid track LOL then got back on. the track 75 & 80 out in monrovia MD dosen't have the 1/4 mile line marked cause of all the 1/8 mile OPS racing they do there lol my 1/8mile times where only .1 off each other.

05-08-2005, 12:29 AM
My closest slip to that I cut a .1 off the 60ft (on really ****ty tires for drag racing), ran 16.5 but had a 2mph higher trap. Maybe mine was just slower thru the midrange that day. Possible since I never did a ecu reset and just now got the computer reflash before I came back over to iraq. That and I lack your CVVT. Also that track is close to sea level. Never thought of that affecting the trap speed like that, thanx Odessit, without affecting e/t.

03-07-2006, 12:00 PM
We will be having a new time slip to discuss here soon...

I don't want to give away anymore info than this... but its very good.

!!!!!!!!!! =)

I can't wait !

03-07-2006, 02:42 PM
i'm coming for your time ford ;)

03-07-2006, 03:04 PM

I can't wait !

More info please?

03-07-2006, 09:25 PM
yeah, I think that we might need either more information about what stunt you're going to pull, or a timeframe so that I know how long I have to wait for.

03-08-2006, 02:37 AM
congrats to u guys who are getting 15s

04-03-2006, 07:08 PM
hmmm i just realized something... we have never gotten time slips from any boosted elantras... aside from manhroy but his times weren't good because his clutch was slipping... someone needs to boost and hit 13s or hit 14s with the bottle!!!

04-03-2006, 07:19 PM
If I can't hit 14's with mine,shes goin in a ditch

04-03-2006, 07:35 PM

04-03-2006, 07:57 PM
What happened with ford's suprise?

04-03-2006, 08:20 PM
I have a suprise for all you this year...its called total domination at the track!

or close to it. hahah

04-09-2006, 11:23 PM
What happened with ford's suprise?

Yes, what the crap...hurry up ford, everything is slower on the information superhighway.

04-09-2006, 11:25 PM
the surprise is not from myself... rather.. another XD member who was supposed to post up some respectable times ... and yes they can possibly be quicker than mine...

I don't know if it'll be in the blk02xd range but still .. mid 15's or better ....

I guess we will just have to wait.

04-09-2006, 11:29 PM
ah ok then...sorry to be a bother.

I'll continue to wait.

12-19-2006, 07:52 AM
Alright evan what did you think about my lightning fast 18 second passes ? :D
