hahaha yeah, the stuff's a little tacky, but it'll do until I find better. Hints of red here and there are needed to break up the grey-carpet-grey-leather-grey-grey-plastic-grey-interior-grey-grey-grey-grey-with-some-grey-grey-and-grey-....

yea i agree, hyundai went gray crazy on the elantra. thats why you get an 04 GT, with a kenwood so you can have all those crazy colors. too bad its a POS. anyway, if you want those KDM side moldings, email dreamka and tell them your model and year and all the info. 46 bux including shipping.

I dont think the grey looks THAT bad after a few accents of whatever color you want here and there... I will do that this summer when it gets hotter :)

I searched around and I found a place that makes complete colored bezel sets for the Elantra.

Best Body Dash (http://www.bestbodydash.com/)

It's tempting...

good find. but the real site is exoticwoodtrim, and for anyone too lazy, direct link to the elantra section http://www.exoticwoodtrim.com/productlist.asp?moid=54

very good stuff indeed.

but... is this full replacement or just covers?

When I'm ready to order (not for a while - wifey won't let me :( ) I'm going to call and ask them to verify whether the kits are true replacement pieces or $170 worth of stickers. If they're just stickers, forget it.

I'm 95% sure that their kits are stick on.

Damn. I should've asked myself too... 110$ Is a little too easy for a non stick-on :(

What is a "true replacement"? I thought they were all stick-ons. If your buying aftermarket they are usually stick-ons.

GTSTISL
02-21-2005, 09:11 AM
no, a true replacement, is just that, a replacement. remove the stock dash and install the new dash. just like stock, except painted, or carbon fiber. thats the real way to go.

surreelantra
02-21-2005, 12:18 PM
Yeah, I like the idea of having spare dash bezel parts and painting them. I really don't want to use the OEM pieces since I'll be learning on the fly.

A crappy Photochop to give me an idea what a red dash and carpets will look like:

sed

please dont do this.

Please?

Why does everyone want the most flashy colors on the interior?

Everything else in your car is gray. that is just way too much red.

Your car is red and all the trim pieces will be red too?

why not choose a nuetral color scheme that will complement the colors already in your car, unless you are changing all the colors inside, it will look ghettofabulous....

thats just my .02

shawn :)

surreelantra
02-21-2005, 01:37 PM

Calm down sed. I bought the cheap red floormats and wheel cover to protect the leather and carpet from the snow and slop that's around here right now. When I do get around to fixing up the interior the red will be the deep red of the body paint and not the fire engine red that's in the picture.

A neutral color scheme? You can't get more neutral than GREY, can you?

sed
02-21-2005, 01:50 PM
dude,

gray and red are not nuetral...

is your car.

surreelantra

I want to go with a red/black interior, but I'm trying to figure out what's more important to me at the moment.

--> Dynamat the car and install my audio equipment + XM. TOP PRIORITY

Then I'm not sure...Wheels? Suspension? Brakes? Interior? More audio? All I know is that engine/exhaust mods will be last.

Damn snow. My GT's dirty now.

I wonder if Hyundai makes black Elantra GT floormats?

GTSTISL
02-24-2005, 02:57 PM
nope, only grey. You'd have to paint.

surreelantra
02-24-2005, 03:01 PM
Heh. I meant carpeted ones with the GT insignia. I just checked the Hyundai online store only to discover that the dealers in my area don't carry anything of interest to anyone.

License plate frames...woo...

If you go w/red as an accent color it would work. Basically just use it on small parts, maybe around the air vent and such. If you are going to keep the dash all red like that I would take the steering wheel cover off, it's a different color red which clashes w/the dash.

surreelantra
02-24-2005, 03:22 PM
So did I: the dealer's advertisement frame. Ecch.

I've driven the car 350 miles so far w/o problems. A lil' bit of wind noise starts up around the sunroof at 65-70mph but there's no quirks or- wait, I -do- feel the windshield wiper movement through the brake pedal...that's odd.

The wheel cover and mats right now are coming off when the weather gets better; they're just for additional snow/salt/slop protection (and boy have they gotten slopped up today - it's snowing here). I don't think I can go with the exact red of the paint job (Electric Red) and use it as a highlight a black interior - you may not see it.

GTSTISL
02-24-2005, 03:25 PM
yea, i would never advertise the dealership where i got my car from. worst service ever. i ripped those puppies off as soon as i had my first run in with the dealership.my front frame says Elantra GT, while the back says Black Sabbath.

Just tried doing donuts in the parking lot...I CAN'T.

Maybe if I turned off the TCS...

GTSTISL
02-25-2005, 06:49 AM
yea, turn it off and take a spin or two. when i was drivin in the snow from germantown (30 minutes) i had the tcs on all the way and no sliding. when i got to my neighborhood, i turned it off for a second, and floored it and started slidin.

surreelantra
02-25-2005, 05:11 PM
So far the only way i can get the car spinning in (4 inches of) snow with the TCS on is to speed up, keep my foot off the accelerator and brake and make a hard sharp turn. I need a larger parking lot. :D

GTSTISL
02-25-2005, 05:13 PM
turn the wheel a bit and floor it and just start spinnin if you want to spin. dont try it in a small parking lot tho. make sure you have plenty room!!

lookin' good.... I really like the 2-tone wheel wrap.

surreelantra
05-09-2005, 12:05 AM
ilanpro--> I'm about 30 minutes away from Cabela's. Never been inside though

mrhoaf--> that's a Wheelskins cover, size AXX, red and charcoal. The charcoal is off by the tiniest bit with the rest of the gray wheel but I think it's okay. Give yourself lots of time to sew the damn thing on -- make a stitch, hold the rest tight, make another stich, hold the rest tight, undo the last 4 stitches because you messed up, make another stitch...
