Hyundai is rolling out a new concept called the RM16 to give us a sense for what its ‘N’ performance division will be building.

Hyundai launched the ‘N’ sub-brand back in September of 2015, though no actual cars have emerged from the new performance arm yet. 'Our RM16 and Hyundai N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concepts are inspired by the passion for performance, that you will soon see evolve into our first N model,' said Woong-chul Yang, vice chairman and head of Hyundai R&D.

This is the third time Hyundai has revealed a new RM (racing midship) concept, with the new RM16 following the RM15 and RM14.

The RM16’s recipe for success is as follows: a mid-mounted 2.0-liter engine with electric turbocharging making 295 horsepower, a 42/57 front to rear weight balance, a six-speed manual transmission, a new electronic limited-slip differential and a low center of gravity. Hyundai used a new aluminum space frame covered by carbon-fiber reinforced plastic body panels in order to keep the car as light as possible.

A variable exhaust setup allows the car to change its tone based on acceleration and adjustable bolster seats on the inside will help to keep driver and passenger stuck in their seats through the corners.

The car will be revealed to the public at Busan Motor Show in South Korea.
