Sounds like you need a valve cover gasket. Shouldn't be too hard to replace.

I have a 2002 with 75K miles on it and mine is showing some slight leakage as well.

Just how difficult are these to replace?

*EDIT - Just called the dealer to see the cost of changing it, for S&G....

Price of the gasket + 1 hr labor

He said he wasn't sure of the price of the gasket, but the labor was $95/hr.

I just put a call into the parts guy to get a price on the gasket, guess I'll be doing this one on my own.

The valve cover gasket is a piece of cake to do man.20 mins is all you need.Difficulty rating of 2,thats a scale of 1-10.DO NOT over tighten the bolts when you put it back together,if you do it yourself. That will cause all kinds of leaks. They are goin to charge you $95 an hour?Holy crap,I need to work at a dealer like that one.We charge $72 an hour.

does anyone there weld, and can they cut me a deal on the installation? the best ive seen is 40bux here.

and how exactly does the gasket go in? just unscrew the head?

Ha,I cant even get anything done there for 40 bucks, unless you count oil changes.I believe he's talking about the valve cover gasket, not the head gasket. The valve cover is held on by 9 or 10 (I think) 10mm bolts and a dab of rtv sealant around the corners.Just have to make sure you get as much of the sealant off of the head before putting the cover back on.

    Yeap, $95/hr.

And just got a price on the gasket.... $21.50.

We really could use a nice little DIY on the gasket change, maybe I'll try it this weekend.

Trust me man,its not hard.Just look at the valve cover and you'll see all the bolts that have to come out. Also remember the location of the plug wires, although it will be very hard to get the wires mixed up.Piece of cake man

Yeah, I plan on changing out the plugs too while I have it all apart. Hopefully I can get to it this weekend.
