    Question Drag question...

The local drags are starting up again, and im thinking im going to run my car in it.

This is mostly because my friend who belives his VW (which according to him can toast damn near anything), wants to see who's car is faster.

While there are plenty of flat stretches of road, I wanna take this to the track so I can get it recorded. Im fairly certain that I can take him...I did beat him (once out of two runs) when I had the auto and we were at the drags.

    My mods:

    CAI
    Short Shifter
    Headers
    Some random *** exhaust

    His mods:

    CAI
stage 2 clutch from auto zone
    ebay exhaust

So who do you folks think will win? He INSISTS that he will walk me, and that I "shift slow", but thats because of the spring. And his "shifting faster" is just slamming the clutch, reving up, dumping the clutch. This is his second clutch, which proves that beating on them makes them go out SO faster.

I think I got it though. I don't spin tires, I grip and go. He burns out and goes no where.

reminds me of a few people I've met...

"dude my [stock, automatic, ugly] cavalier/accord/sunfire/etc is soooo fast! your HOWN-DAY is junk from japan!"

...and even IF his car is faster than your car, doesn't mean HE is faster than YOU. let him burn his clutch up again.

The 8v 115hp wonder?!? LOL if you can drive your not just going to beat him, but stomp him into the ground. My accent pulled on those things.

you don't NEED to burn your tires to launch properly. some of my best lauches were with a little bit of spin (just enough to hear it) then hookup and go

The absolute best way to launch, unless your boosted or just have to have uber rpm to not bog, is to put as much power down as the tires can handle. Like threshold braking you do threshold launching. If you tires can grap from a 6k dump.. go for it. Whats the only way you know your right at the limit? Let the tires make a little noise. Go juuuuustttttt past the point where max grip is at. Thats IMO of course.
