    Default Need some advice

I got an 03 XD Hatcback and I am looking at doing some engine work to my car to give it some more boost, better gas mileage but I am not sure what to do to it. Everything is stock, I did change from the box air filter to a K&N Cone air filter, but I wanna do something that will help more than that. I also wanna keep it cheap too if possible. Any suggestions on what I can do?

I have looked at the DIY....there are things that I am going to do that are on there....but I mean stuff that I can do directly to the engine...I am not that car savy when it comes to engine stuff, so I don't mind taking it to a mechanic to do or I have a buddy that might be able to do some engine work. I am just not sure what to do as far as engine work is concerned to give it more power

well there aren't a whole lot of "cheap" things you can do to the engine. Maybe an adjustable cam gear and lightweight pulleys, Cold air intake and an exhaust are about the limit for cheap bolt on mods. After that you get into more expensive things like cams and boost applications.

It allows you to advance/retard the cams. It particularly helps you with your torque curve.

Correct Although if you have an 04 and up I would check to see if you can use it.

You can use it, as me and James messed around with it on his 05.

what other cheap in prices things could I do to improve the overall power of my Elantra? I don't want to add forced induction like Turbos and Superchargers, but I do want to give it some boost when I hit the gas

My car was a blast to drive when I had I/H/E, cam sprocket, and port intake manifold installed.
