Replace the exhaust manifold with cat, and the second O2 sensor.

I just had this code, check your manifold to see if it is cracked, mine was and it is covered under a recall for 2001-2003 ELantras. The manifold and cat are one whole unit, so they will replace both for free. No matter how many miles, just as long as your manifold is cracked.

YES. A crack is a crack. If you're under the 10/100 and original owner it will be no problem.

On a side note, had the same code on the Turd (2000 Accent 1.5) and changed the sensor with a spare I had and have had no problems since.

I'm the original owner but WAY over 100k and they replaced mine free. It's not a warranty item, it's a TSB.

TSB doesn't mean that it's free. The fact that it's a recall is the reason it was free.

TSB= TEchnical Service Bulletin. Information provided to the dealerships from HMA on common issues/problems and things to look for.

REcalls= a REcall, a mandatory fix required by the NHTSB for all vehicles.

A TSB IS NOT a recall.

Ownership shouldn't be a problem - I'm not an original owner of my car, and they still replaced my cat/manifold for free. No know about the mileage, but better not wait until 100K
    best of luck, mate

Recalls don't expire with time or mileage.

Just go ahead and take it in there and ask about getting it replaced. Mention the fact that you know it's a known issue, and ask if they will replace it for free.

A lot of members on here have had it replaced even out of warranty.

If the recall was already done then it won't be free. but if it never had the recall done you are set.

If the recall was closed, saying that it was inspected and not cracked, then the warranty on the manifold gets extended to 10 years unlimited mileage.
I had the recall closed saying no crack found. Then later it developed the crack, and had it taken care of for free.

If it was already replaced and it cracks again it will be done again. According to the service manager @ the local dealership anyhow.

Ricerrx7 that makes more sense than what I was told. Have you found this in writing anywhere? My District Manager was trying to f### someone or didn't know what he was talking about. About two years ago a manifold cracked about 1 year after the inspection. I called him to ask about the warranty and he said if it passed inspection it is only covered to the end of the original warranty period.
