2006 PONTIAC SOLSTICE
ON SALE: Fall 2005
BASE PRICE: $19,995 (est.)
POWERTRAIN: 2.4-liter, 170-hp, 170-lb-ft I4; rwd, five-speed manual
CURB WEIGHT: 2860 pounds
0 TO 60 MPH: 7.2 seconds

170 hp 4 cylinder and RWD I like it. also being the ECOTECH motor you could probably bolt the supercharger from the Cobalt SS or the Saturn Ion Redline up to it.

The price point is what is going to make this car sell the most I think. It's good to see GM bringing out better looking cars too (starting with the Cobalt and others).

There isn't going to be a hard top available though, right? (I guess that would just be the Cobalt basically anyway).

Yeah it is pretty cool to see more sporty options out that are RWD and convertible. Not everyone can afford an S2000 or a Corvette and most guys don't want to be seen in a miata. No offense to anyone that likes them.

Nice little car. Should be fun to drive. The only thing: I wish it was around 2500 lbs or less. 2860 lbs weight is quite a lot for such a small car.

It's actually not that small. it's only a inch or so narrower than the C6. i forgot the length. but i remember either on autoweek.com or thecarconnection.com that it's not as small as people think.

I hope it's taller than a Miata. I'm 6'4", when I sit in a Miata my nose is at the top of the windshield.

I'm sorry, but I fail to see how any body would think it looks good...
Seems rather poorly built to me, I can only base this on the HUGE gap I see where the fender and hood meet, between the head light and wheel, and from the wheel to the door {seen on the nearer car, in the first picture}
The power plant and price would be the only thing getting my attention. And like Evil said, the possibility of a bolt-on SC system already made, it could make this ugly roadster pretty fast, if not pretty.

The cars you see on the pictures were shipped to England in parts and then hand assembled there. These are prototypes that AutoWeek magazine got to drive in England. That explains the gaps and matte black paint and stuff.

Anyway, i finally found it. Solstice is 2" longer than miata, 4+" wider and 2" taller.
Compared to Corvette, 1" narrower body and 2" narrower track width.
