Can any of you talented people that are making their own interiors provide the rest of us with a pattern for custom-fitted seat covers? That would be awesome. Then the rest of us no-talent shmucks can make a nice interior without paying the crazy prices of Katzkin covers and use any material we want.

Maybe you can even sell the patterns.

Maybe some real profiteering mofo will actually make seat covers for people and sell them (at a cost not unreasonable). I don't think I took enough home-ec to successfully do my seats.

There was a time when home ec had me sewing tons of stuff.....wish I would have paid attention and realized it was useful for more than altering my dress clothes!

made my own seat covers once. Turned out pretty cheesy lol. Better material selection is a must next time. THere is a place in British Columbia that makes custom leather seats with or without heaters. I bet if there were enough of us they would start making them for hyundai's too. I think they only do trucks right now.

umm..if you have side airbags, you can't use seat covers b/c it'll intefer with the deployment of the side airbags. soo yeah.

not if the right stitching is used on the sides to allow tearing for the airbag to deploy.........thats what KATZKIN cover have!

that is easy if you are making your own. Just handstich the part of the seam that covers the airbag and do the rest with a serger or sewing machine.

If you want a pattern, get and old seat and cut it apart into each panal. Now you have a pattern.

However, u better have some skills in both sewing and upholstering. It aint easy, either one. Ask silet.

Plus the material, especially leather is pretty expensive. I can do all that stuff but if it were me (I have the skills and tools), but i would order them from a place like katskin instead.

hmm. im not suzie homemaker but i know how to sew and im soon going to be making my own seat covers once i do maybe ill beable to make a pattern... we'll have to see

Good luck. Whatever you do make sure the seems are very strong. It takes a lot of stretching and bending to get the upholstery on the seat and if the seems aren't strong they will rip for sure.
