Dashboard Mounted Gauge Install Help

So I just got a 4 in 1 tachometer, oil pressure and temp, and water temp gauge. I was wondering if anyone knew a good way to work the wires in through the engine bay. The only way Id know how to was when I did my neons I routed it through the firewall but that was mounted under the steering wheel so they didn't get in the way. I don't mind drilling I'm all up for fabricating but I just need an attack point. It would be greatly appreciated!:D

hey there, the black box on the engine side of the firewall right top dead center behind IM (intake manifold) is your easiest access point for feeding wires/sensor tubes for guages through the firewall. comes out behind center bezel/radio area.

there is a DIY her for it, http://www.elantraxd.com/DIY/firewall.php

there is also a electrical junction block in behind the passenger side door kick plate. I ran lighting electrical via this port as well.

Mark,
Sorry for digging up an old thread but I had a question about getting through the firewall.

I located the black box behind the intake and have removed two nuts as detailed in the DIY guide. There is something on the bottom end of the black cover holding it in place but it is not a nut. Furthermore, it is blocked by three vacuum lines. I can't get this cover off and can't even see what is holding it on. I'm hoping to get the car on jack stands later this week but was hoping someone could shed some light on this for me.

I have a 2004 GT (XD2) and it's a Canadian model if that makes any difference.
