Did some reading this week on what kind of forced induction i could use. weighed n/a versus turbo vs supercharging and I've beed sold more on supercharging plus exhaust/intake mods and an ecu flash/piggyback.

I've read on Alpine's site that the platform for the supercharger was the Eaton MP45, the same one used for Mini Coopers. My question is: is it possible to fab either the intake or the supercharger itself to fit the elantra?

the only other supercharger made for Hyundais is made by Sprintex in Australia, and they made one for the Honda Jazz (Fit). They've made them for Accents and Tuscons (Santa Fe's?) it costs a bundle, and i've since sent an email to find out if any are here on US soil (waiting for answer, hopefully)

Make a custom mount and mount it like the alternator, then run piping to an intercooler(if running higher boost) and into the intake. You will need a different belt though. Then get the car tuned for the SC and supporting mods.


That is how I understand it. Like almost everything else in this world, it is easier said than done.

Rebuilt ones go for around $1,000. Add on the price of tuning, headers, intercooler, brackets, new belt, and the piping will be as much as a turbo kit.

not running higher boost. but was told that some form of cooling system would be a good idea.

I'll look for a sticky n get back to planning some more.

Got an email back from Sprintex's sales rep in Australia. They have superchargers but no direct fitment kits for the 03 elantra.

I'm slowly entertaining the idea of trying a mini or cobalt supercharger to make it more interesting. I believe with patience it can be done. not like I'm doing a small block v8 swap or nothin.....

Been doing research and emailing ppl and it seems the M62 might be a good candidate. Even talked to one guy who is building systems starting at $2000.

Will check out the possibility of tracking down a charger and hooking up a low boost system myself with some help.
