I've been thinking about this for over a year and actually started implementation last year as well. With recent motivation (and help from outside sources) I've been able to move forward with the implementation and its integration with the forums. This means if you are signed onto EXD then you will be automatically signed on to the wiki (and no new accounts can be created through the wiki itself).

I'd like to use the EXD wiki as a place for members to constantly keep up to date information about the aftermarket parts available for 2001+ Elantras (and older Elantras if people want). In addition, I figure we could move all of the Do It Yourself guides there as well to allow for expansion by members. Also included right now are common modifications and a list of aftermarket parts suppliers.

Here is the direct link:

http://www.elantraxd.com/wiki

Link to an example of an aftermarket part page. Things I think should be covered are name of the part, what model it fits, a description, where the part can be purchased (currently), pictures if possible, and links to any relevant EXD threads or posts:

http://www.elantraxd.com/wiki/index.php/Taillight_Covers

Link to an example of a DIY:

http://www.elantraxd.com/wiki/index.php/OEM_High_Spoiler_Installation

Please feel free to add information that is relevant, reliable, current, accurate or otherwise beneficial to the members of ElantraXD.

When adding information be sure to follow conventional WikiXD formatting, spelling and grammar guidelines. For instance, the bottom of each page should have a link back to its parent page and perhaps to the grandparent page as well. Please use correct English spelling and grammar when making edits or adding new information.

Please note: Any wiki-vandalism will result in you being banned from the wiki AND the forums.

So, does anyone think they'd be willing to give a hand with this? Either copying and pasting current DIYs, putting up new DIYs, or starting work compiling the lists and descriptions of aftermarket parts?

HTML (nor BB) coding will work on the wiki. Contributors will have to get used to using wiki formatting. For example, using two brackets around a term or terms will make it an internal link. Using one bracket around a term or terms will make it an external link. Using three apostrophes around text makes it bold. Etc etc. If anyone has any questions about formatting just ask and we can work through it together.

So, thoughts?

I'm looking forward to see how this turns out.

I've also added a link to the Navbar to the left of the New Posts button so people can easily navigate to it.

Matrix, thanks!

You are the first person to make any meaningful changes (other than myself) so you get to pick a prize.

Pick something from this picture and PM me your address.

Anyone else that makes meaningful additions over the next couple of days will be eligible for more cool Hyundai stuff.

EDIT-

Matrix, did you have any problems doing anything? Was it all pretty straightforward and easy to use? Did you encounter anything that wasn't working?

One more thing, can you see a icon in the top left corner (which browser are you using)?

are you doing all this stuff for archiving purposes? I know a lot of forums do the wiki stuff when stuff is outdated and they are moving on to newer stuff?

Are you gonna shut EXD down?

You got it Matrix. No, in the top left corner there should be an "ElantraXD aftermarket guide wiki" logo. It's only showing for me though I think.

Derek, no. The point of it is so that MEMBERS can keep an up to date aftermarket guide for all the parts available. It's not something I have the time to do by myself, so by opening it up to community participation, things can be maintained and updated as available (and other aspects of the parts) change.

So say right now you can get an exhaust from Evofusion. So we have the part, a description, some pictures and where it can be purchased from. In 5 weeks maybe they stop making/selling it. Someone updates the wiki to show it's not available anymore. Or someone finds a new bodykit available online. They add it to the wiki and it's there. No waiting around for me to do something about it! To me the aftermarket guide part is the most important and useful aspect of what the wiki can be used for. That's the part I'd like to see being added by EXD members.

Or for the DIYs, if someone puts up a DIY in the DIY forum they can add it right to the wiki as well (again, no waiting for me!) and then other people can tweak it and add pictures to it as well.

If I was going to shut down EXD I wouldn't be spending time ADDING features!

Don't forget everyone. Help out on the wiki and I'll send you free Hyundai merchandise (I have a t-shirt and a hat to send out for people who contribute a lot).

Casale, thanks for your additions today!

Pick something from that picture (the ****** is gone!) and I'll send it your way.

In the future, when people make changes please post in this thread to let me know.

Keep up the good work guys.
