Car makes kind of a clunk noise if I go over a bump or pothole. Seems to be isolated to the driver's side front wheel area. I'm thinking strut or motor mount. What do I need to do to isolate the problem?

The strut tower bolts are tight. The strut doesn't seem to be blown because it has good damping. I don't think there is any problem with the coil spring.

Recall that my car had a transmission replacement. Is it possible that someone didn't get a mount tight or damaged the mount? Or do you guys think it's another component? Any specific suggestions I could use to check?

Thanks

CV? tie rods? Did they put the balancer on in the right place on the half-axle?
When I had my 89 civic, I replaced the half-axles and the 1st rebuilt pair I got didn't have the balancers on the shaft, and when I hit a bump or accelerated during turns it would make a clunking noise. Replaced them and it was fine again. fwiw...
