VIN numbers can contain information on options etc. Does Hyundai do this and how do I read the VIN for coded info.
From other posts I gather my 2004 is an XD2 and that has nothing to do with the designations GL, GLS, etc. Is that right?

I found it at the Official Hyundai site as a TSB.
See if this pic comes through.
2004 MY VIN DECODER

Well that didn't work. :-(
Don't know why it won't let me copy direct but it won't.
I've got it saved in my computer but can't get the image transfered into this forum.
Any ideas?
Otherwise it can be found by registering in at Hyundai and look under Elantra XD "General Info/TSBs".

Ah yeah, that doesn't load in Safari (or Chrome). I see it now in Firefox, and yeah, that's what I was talking about.

For future reference, you'll need to upload the image to the internet somewhere and then use the tags around the URL. Or use the Attach File feature when making a post (you might need to use the Go Advanced button).

I've never tested it myself. This is very difficult for me because there are many features there. Although now there is all the information on the Internet. But I'm too lazy to study this. I check with Epicvin service. It even has a free vin check dmv.
