Pretty much every hybrid does that. Only thing new here is that this is a gas-only car.

it says in the article that as soon as you touch the the clutch, the engine starts, so what they're saying is, depress the clutch, put it in gear and the engine is started before you lift off the clutch.

That's nuthin', I have a button for each spark plug on my console and do the timing myself as I drive. Seriously, that's simple and cool.... sounds like old cars could be retrofited to do that too.

I always figured that starting the car over and over again would use more fuel than just letting it run for 10-60 seconds.
