I am shopping around to buy new front struts. I see there are gas charged shocks and oil filled shocks. Which ones are better? Which ones last longer? Also they sell strut only vs complete set with coil springs. Which one is better? Thanks in advance for advice.

Comelet assembly is definitely worth the money if your car has some miles on it. Factory springs get lazy and start to sag so it's worth replacing them. It's also a lot easier to install because you won't need a spring compressor.

As far as gas vs oil, not to sure, I honestly don't think you'll notice a difference under standard driving conditions.

Oil filled respond a lil more softly than gas dampers. However, oil usually last longer than gas. Gas are more performance oriented than oil. Hence why higher end sports cars come with gas struts and luxury cars have oil filled standard. Gas have more precise dampening since a gas has different pressure characteristics than hydraulic oils.
