I recently have seen forums talking about resetting ECU. How is this accomplished? My engine was running pretty rough. I have never replaced sparkplugs since i got my xd with 35,000. It now has 112,000. I pulled the plugs last night and the tips were white. I replaced then with new ones. Would resetting my ECU do anything or help? Spark plugs with white tips mean? Running to hot?

remove and replace the ECU fuse in the underhood fuse box ... no need to wait for "minutes" or even "seconds", just remove and replace and the ECU is reseted (I tested it and it works perfectly!)

EDIT : as for the plugs :

On the XD it seems to require the removal of two fuses. Both marked ECU.

Yup^ They are both in the underhood fuse box (one 10 amp and a larger square one that (I believe) is 20 amp).

still, no need to wait 30 seconds or whatever ... the lost of power immediately clear the memory! ;)
