BAH!!! Woke up late for skewl this morning to a dead battery!!! This has been happening alot lately... just finished scheduling an appointment to bring my car in and get the starter checked... so much for skewl... oh yeah... did I mention my bro(who's at skewl) has my family's only jumper cables... :hand:

EDIT- Just got off the phone with Hyundai Roadside Assistance... in about 20-25 min a tow truck will be here to take my baby away from me... it's going to the evil dealership though and not my current choice one... last time my car died they replaced the battery for free. That was less than 6 months ago... so this time I asked them to check the starter/alternator since the chances the battery is bad are slim. While I'm up there I'm debating on whether or not have them look at some things... as stated above I sceduled an appointment for next Monday at a different dealership(8 miles difference) so I think I'll just want them to get my car running for now.

I hate when you are already running late, rush to the car and find out something like that....with my old VW there was never a morning where I didn't pray the thing started when I turned the key...every day was like Russian Roulette with that thing. Keep us updated.

So far so good... the customer service has been nothing but excellent so far... I even got to actually talk to the guy who will be looking over my car and (aside the country accent) he seems like he knows what he's talking about... or reading a really good phone script... I was told I could either wait until they have my car running again and head down there or I can go now and wait/talk to the service manager... they'll send a shuttle to come pick me up either way :D :nosthumbs

Ok... 5 hours later and my car is still being looked over... the service manager doesn't know anything except that it's being looked at(and has been being looked at for a while). They said it should be done by the end of the day(6:00). Well luckily since I couldn't go anywhere my day wasn't able to get any worse, I missed skewl and luckily don't have to work tonight so I get to sit home, rest, and watch anime all day... I wish there was a smiley I could use right now.... I guess this one will work... :bondage: :D

YAY! My day is getting so much better!! I go to the dealer and find out they had my car for 7+ hours because something drained the battery and they needed to recharge it for me... so I take the bus up to the dealer and finally get there after an hour or so... I get there and start to drive home, I stop to get gas and like always I use my debit card... this time it tells me to go inside to use it for some reason, I go in and the teller tells me Insufficient Funds I figured it was a mistake and used my credit card instead... I go to work to get my paycheck and while I'm there I use the office computer to check my bank account... I look and I'm at -$30... apparently some company called Dating Playground.com wiped out my savings and checking account and left me with a nice overdraft fee... they decided to do this right about the time my bank closed for the day so now I'm stuck without money until tomorrow morning. Me and my dad checked online and according to a handful of credit card fraud sites Dating Playground.com has been known to do this and not only that but they take out between $45-$60 each day until the person either cancel's the credit card or there is no money left in their account... so if I deposit my paycheck tonight they'll just take it. Talk about a lovely day... had to cancel all my plans tonight because of these bastards!! Another thing is I don't know how they got a hold of my info since I only use my debit card online for Paypal :angryfire :angryfire :angryfire

Well, whoever wants to double swipe the card can do so easily actually...and it doesn't have to be a gas station, can be a store you were at, or elsewhere. Double swiping in particular is swiping your card in the machine where you have to make your transaction and (depending on different machines) reverse swipe in the same machine right in front of you or swipe into another machine at the cash - this is usually in plain view of your eyes, and when asked what they are doing, they claim to be validating your card or something to that effect. Or they try to do it when you are not looking like when you are typing in your pin and they swipe the card in the little device that is under the counter. The device used will store the information on your card. If you think only using your direct payment card is more safe, they can sometimes be very skillful at watching you type in your secret code on the dial pad - as extreme as setting up mirrors to face the dialpad directly or even surveilance cameras. And those little devices can say WHATEVER they want to say on your bill, just so they won't get caught.

But more than likely, what happened was when you entered the info on the screen for Paypal, the line/site was not secured and someone tapped in and got your number and info.

And yes, everything I discussed above happened at that gas station. Fortunately nothing happened to me or my cards, I usually payed at the pump or with cash, but many many people got stung before authorities caught on.

Well as for the double swiping thing that's not the case because I never use my PIN number except for ATMs. I only use my debit card as a credit card even at the pump. And they didn't get my card info from when I was typing it in at Paypal because that would involve my computer's security being comprimised... which it never was/will be. I'm not sure how they got the info... the only thing I can think of is somebody randomly typed in my card number or a credit card generator came up with it randomly... that's my only thought. And if I wanted I can screw so many people out of money because I can easily guess Visa Check Card(from a certain bank) numbers all day without problem because after working at Dominos for so long I've memorized the pattern they use for their card numbers... not purposely but it's just after hearing them all the time I can type in numbers all day and get a nice little "Verified" message... I assume most Credit Unions do this because they issue the cards at the bank office itself so since I'm with a Credit Union I can only guess somebody with the same Credit Union could easily guess another person's number.
