I just paid $175 to have the thermostat in my fridge replaced. It only cost me $30 to have the thermostat in my car replaced. WTF?!

Yeah... it's like "why does the belt for my pants cost soooo much less than the timing belt!"

You took your car to someone, but someone had to come to you to fix the fridge, right? And I don't know how you got the thermostat replaced for $30, but that sounds way too cheap.

It's because there is a lot involved in changing the t-stat in a refrigerator. Especially if it's been mad in the last 10 years. the t'stat in a hyundai is like changing a light bulb.

My mechanic comes to me also. 12.99 for a thermostat, $20 for labor. (Actually, I did it myself, so just $12.99!)

And all this guy did was cut and splice 2 wires! Took him 10 minutes.
