Quick question, are the auto trannies from the 99 Elantra and 01 interchangeable? Oh n also the engine cause I found a slavaged engine n tranny from a 99 claimed to be a 2.0L and if so I could rebuild them and have a back up engine n tranny.

No. The auto trans is completely different on the 2001 vs the 1999.

Engine is also different. The 1999 model uses a beta 1 and the 2001 has a beta 2. They are similar, but not exactly alike.

The 1999 model did come with a 2.0 liter beta 1 engine.
