Hello everyone I'm new to the world of Hyundai tuning I have experience with Honda but mine was recently totaled so I picked up a 02 gls 5 spd since I've bought it I threw an old intake I had lying around and am now hungry for some fun lmao. I would love to slowly prepare my engine for some boost and was wondering what route I should go with cheapest to most exspensive. Also I was wondering if I got hold of a tiburon ecu and plugged it in would I have any kind of performance increase or if it would even work at all thanks a lot hope for some good feed back

I have often wondered if an 03 (since the 02 tiburon was badged an 03 early) ecu is mapped different. No one has ever come up with an answer. On the RD tiburon (up to 2001) you could swap the 1.8 ecu into the 2.0 and see minimal gains. everyone here is gonna tell you why bother you will never get a reliable boosted car. they will tell you to buy a car that is already boosted. But i think it's crap. if you have the desire, go for it. start by looking into the "jattus" kit and go from there. People say the 2.0 can handle up to 10 psi i believe on stock internals.

if you are serious about boost, there are some who have done it succesfully. it just takes work as there are no true succesful bolt on kits without a lot of work. yoiu just need a lot of knowledge to get there. Research research research. Remember newb that the search button is your friend! hang out in the boost forum and look around there as well. The elantra is a good reliable car if taken care of well. do you maintenance and go from there. you can upgrade your rear drums to discs from a an elantra gt with the parts. you can do a 5 lug swap from a tiburon with the parts as well, which opens you up to more rim choices. The hhr springs seem to be a favorite for lowering and driving performance. also, upgrading your rear sway bar is a must. The early 2k3 plus tiburon Gt models have a 19mm sway bar that is a step up from your 13 mm. there are other aftermarket ones to choose from. That is a must have. if you go to the dealer, it must have the green "dot" to know that you got the 19mm oem bar. if it has an orange dot, it is an 18mm. I had the Progress 22mm bar and it was awesome, but it is out of production. you may find a used one on www.newtiburon.com. Whiteline also made a 22mm bar. ARK makes a good exhaust for the car. evofusion makes an OK exhaust as well as headers.
Just do your reseach and any here will be willing to help. Unfortunately you will get posts saying the same thing I am with minimal help at first. Just saying "what can I do" will get little results.
welcome. This is a nice forum. stick around

Wow thanks alot man for the awesome feed back I love this forum already I am very very sceptical about throwing any boost at stock internals I would like find out about any possible motor swaps like a 16g from an eclipse or evo or if even if they make upgraded internals for my motor. I am very excited to begin my quest and get acquainted with that search button thanks again!!

Welcome to EXD! enjoy your stay.......
Yeah there are all kinds of mods you can do from$20 on up. There are some tibby parts so you can do oem upgrades just depends on what kind of money you want to put in to it. I hear it all the time why would you do that to a hyundai and i say because I can and how many do you see on the road that look like mine, then they want to know what i have done. so dont let people shot down ideas that you have!
