With 10w30 full synthetic I get approx:

Cold idle--. depends on outside temp, colder it is, the more pressure it has
Cruising on the highway - 75
Idle, hot - 25

is yours electric or mechanic, and how is it hooked up? max details. I have my electric probe right at the filter.

 

I have and electric sender that is put in place of the original warning switch. I am also running full synthetic 10w30 (Mobil 1).

I just wanted to verify the pressure.

No problem man. I guess that using different mounting points is what changes the reading a bit.

 

Yeah, I guess I am just used to seeing the oil pressure readings on V-8 engines. My old 350 ran about 20-25 at idle, and 40 or so at WOT. I am just not used to seeing almost 80lbs at WOT. Thanks.

 

Hehe no worries. And since the weather warmed up the needle is a bit higher than 75 for mine under WOT

 

I am getting right at 80psi at WOT. I think that the oil filter bypass valve regulates the pressure to 80, and won't let it get any higher.

But, Damn, 80 psi is a whole lot of pressure!

When I had mine hooked up, at WOT I would bounce the needle off the top end of the gauge.

 

ya on a realativly cold engine i can pin the needle at over 100psi on my gauge, once warm though your numbers are very similar to mine.

 

It is also possible that the difference in oil pressures between 04's and Kewl's is the fact that 04' has CVVT. Just a though, I don't know for sure.

It's for turbochargers that dont come with a pinhole oil feed.

You have to put a restrictor on it, I had that on my old setup.

 

I have mine coming out of the right side of the head from where I tapped for oil feed. At cold idle I get a little better than 60psi, hot idle sits at about 14psi, cruising hot 40psi and full throttle is about 65-75psi.

 

Slow, I think that is why my dealer's tech told me not to use that port for accurate pressure. He told me when they test the oil pressure that they have to use the port for the original switch.

I am just blown away that these engines make so much pressure. On a small block chevy engine, that much would blow the filter straight off of the motor. Anyway, I am just glad to hear that all of you are about the same.

No I was told the same thing too but as long as I know what pressure level indicates what amount of oil I have then im good to go.

 

And as long as the pressure is consistent, you're golden.
