Seat Belt Chime

Does anyone know how to disable the seat belt chime that keeps coming on as you're driving? (Don't say "put on your seat belt") I've been looking online but so far come up empty. My old Mustang had a way to disable it, so I figure the HD might have one.

That is not correct HeadofMax.

The chime on the HD is integrated with the BCM and functions with other devises that require a noise.

Doing any kind of electrical mods on the HD takes more thought than the XD. Some things can be done, but what works on the XD may not work on the HD.

this is a little more than that like colin said. my guess would be is to locate the wire that runs to the sensors and add a relay. the only reason why i would suggest something that crazy is for things that require the driver door open while running back from the pedals/ignition and hood. i have this same problem with my grand am when i have to reset the change oil light or tire pressure light on the dash... or just getting to a fuse in the interior of the car

I wear my seatbelt EVERY time I get in my car and I still hated that damn chime.

It might not be that he wants to drive without his belt, maybe he's just sick of hearing the chime when he opens his door, starts car, etc.

I doubt it! That chime usually only goes off once the car hits a certain speed without sensing that the seat belt was connected or once you have been driving a certain amount of seconds with the seat belt disconnected. It doesn't just sound when you open the door. Otherwise, you'd have the key chime and the seatbelt chime competing.

Whenever I had the keys in and the car on, and I would take my belt off and open the door, it would chime until I closed the door, not for a certain period of time. That's why I had Andy disconnect mine.

That's what I'm talking about.

Wear your belt.

What the hell is wrong with you. If you get into an accident and die it's your choice and I don't care, but I wouldn't want to be the guy walking next to your car when the impact comes because you'll be grenaded through the windshield and he'll get a dead man with window shards stuck in his head coming at him at 40 mph... It's instant death!

Think of the pedestrians!

Doesn't matter how careful you (or your wife) drive, when there's plenty of other idiots on the road.

Munky, you are on the right track, but like Colin has pointed out it's different for the HDs and the XDs. There is no easy solution like we have.

People should always wear seatbelts.

Does not go off. It uses the CAN lines to nag the driver to wear the damn belt.

Are you guys so dumb to know that not wearing the seatbelt is a moving violation?

it says in the owners manual the reason it didn't go off is because it only goes off a certain amount of times if at a steady pace and then stops.(ie: freeway) then it will start up again if you drop below a certain speed or something maybe also if you hit the brake (i can't remember exactly as the manual i read was on the rental i had and have since returned!)
