AC Drain Tube

Can someone tell me where the AC condensate drain tube is located? I'm not seeing any water dripping from the engine when the AC is running. I'd guess the Kia and Hyundai are in the same place, I have an 07 Spectra 2.0.
Thanks all.

the ac drain is located to the right of the center hump. as seen in pic View attachment 7739
I just wanted to thank whoever posted this picture. I have a 2007 Kia Spectra that had a water leak coming in from the heater blower. After taking half of the dash apart, I found your post with the picture of the drain tube. I took apart the center console housing, pulled back the interior carpet and it was soaking wet underneath. I found the drain hose, gave it a few squeezes and immediately heard water pour out under the car. Thanks a ton...I think you saved me hundreds by avoiding a mechanic.

So the drain is under the car is under the passenger floorboard? That's what I'm after.

I put the car on ramps today, and the only thing that looks like a drain comes out of the pass floorboard. Funny place for a tube.

I phoned the dealer, but the homie at the other end didn't know where it was.
:wtf:
I thought dealers had manuals an stuff like that...

Not difficult at all. But, we're in this to make money. Go to the shop, give a tech $10 to tell you where it is. We don't give out knowledge for free. Especially since the fact that you're asking the question means that you're not planning on paying me to work on your car.

Are you serious?

We just bought two new Kias from this dealer at the end of March. This car is under warranty.

If this is the type of attitude typical of Kia service shops, it's no wonder they get such poor ratings.

I would drive 30 miles before I'd return to a shop that wanted ten bucks to tell me something that ANY shop, dealership or independent, would or should do out of general courtesy.

Unbelievable comment.

From the dealer point of view: If you call me and ask me to look through a bunch of manuals, for free, to find something like that, I'm going to tell you I can't help you.
Manuals are on the computer. Looking through "a bunch of manuals, for free" should not be necessary. Just look in the Spectra manual. It should take a whole two minutes to find the AC drain.

I cannot remember the number of times the parts or service guys at GM or Chrysler or other dealers have done this. Last visit at a Chrysler dealer, the parts guy printed a page for me when I was asking about cabin air filters.

Kia won't be around the US very long if this is the common mindset at dealerships.

I don't work for Kia, I work for BMW. If you're asking to look up a part to buy, like a cabin air filter, then the parts guy will look up the part and print out whatever you need. Because you're planning to spend money. If you're calling over the phone to ask where random things are on the car, then I'm not making any money off of you.

Let me ask you this, what do you do for a living? What kind of training and experience did you need in order to get where you are today?

18 years of school, two years internship during grad school, 4000 hours supervised experience + advanced exam for next level licensure. 20 hours CEU per year minimum.
Basic combat training, advanced training, additional specialized training blocks of two days, two weeks, or 15 weeks, driving and maintaining M35A2 2 1/2 ton cargo truck for 24 months, annual marksmanship training/evaluation, maintaining A+ fitness level, adventures in far off 3rd to 5th world lands, semi annual 10K ruck marches w/50LB pack, creating or publishing weekly or monthly newsletters, volunteering at community organizations providing services for victims of violence, volunteering at humane society, hospice volunteering, supervising/motivating/scoring semi annual fitness tests for battalion, supervising platoon sized element, dealing with inflexible, uncreative bureaucracies for decades...

What that has to do with a drain tube is questionable, though.

Have you had your head under the hood of any modern domestic cars? They're the same.

I will always Do business with GM

According to your profile, you turn 18 tomorrow. Just how much business have you done with GM in the not-yet 2 years you've been driving?

points have been made and noted. gettin caught up in lies! 2003gt stop while your ahead!!!!

i agree with ricer on this, he is paid for his experience. he had to pay for the computer to look up ur a/c drain, hows he gunna make his money back on it if hes giving out the info he paid for for free? its his job, any dealership is like that. they want to see the car and expect reimbersment for theyre knowledge.

My dad has owned Chevy ever since I was a little boy. I mean the old school and even the 2005 1500 my dad has is easier to work with. There is so much room. I agree though the under hood on a Taurus is just as bad if not worst then most foreign cars. The one thing about this car is it is surprisingly roomy in there. I have been a Ford hater also because all my cousins drive Cobras and 5.0s. Hey what am I lieing about. I was stating my opinion. BOB

You can't compare working under the hood of a pickup with working under the hood of any modern car. Hell, you can climb up and sit inside the engine compartment of most pickup trucks.

The difference witht he Mustang and most of the 'foreign' cars you're comparing it to, is the orientation of the engine. Longitudnal vs. Tansverse.

Good job being a Ford hater. That part is correct.

Ya I like the Mustang. But you cant beat the old Chevelle or the Firebird Which I am doing donuts in in the school parking lot tomorrow. :) :) BOB

Since we're dragging this a little o/t anyway, when I was in high-school GM F-bodies ruled, amoung my close group of friends was:
Iroc Z-28
Trans Am
Camaro RS
Firebird
Firbird Formula

All late-80s, except for the plain-Firebird, it was a 92.

Ya we have an 87 Monte SS in auto with the HO 305 and a Quadrabog carb. I rebuilt it and boy does that thing move. Esp when your foots on the Brake. :) My friends supposedly buying a 91 I-Roc. The Firebird was a 2.8 liter. It still does some sick donuts though. BOB

Ok, so now think about this; Why did you go through all that? To get the experience, and knowledge that you need to do your job. So wouldn't you get pissed if someone just came up to you and tried to ask a bunch of questions and expect you to basically work for free? You paid for your knowledge, you deserve to be paid to share it.

DUDE ITS A FRICKEN DRAIN TUBE. I would say ya its under the passenger floor boards. If he asked how to rebuild his transmission thats different. Half the time you learn on your own by doing things. BOB

sure am glad someone else asked the question

i would be put out if i had asked my question about an easy way to check and maybe unblock an A/C tube that was leaking all over the inside of my 2003 elantra and then got flamed for wanting to do it myself

thanks for the picture i will try to fix it and if not i guess go pay the 85 dollar shop rate to stick a wire up the tube

regards

my tube had a big bug in it and my mechanic reached under the car on the passenger side and pulled it out
no charge ,no wise *** remarks ,no lecture on how many hours of school it took to talk
and you know what , i will be going back to him every time i need to
Dealers and shop owners really need to think about the way they advertise their business
word of mouth is 100 times better than a TV or radio add

I sprayed my air inlets with Oust, and only after a day or so if I don't dry the airconditioner, it stinks. Last year (2012 summer), I remember it wasn't as bad, so I thought maybe it's the condensation drain hose that got blocked. It doesn't leak or anything, but to make sure the passage is clear, am I supposed to take this off and blast compressed air through this hose?

I have a Elantra 2007 and just wanted to make sure this is the correct drain hose. I couldn't find where the outlet is from underneath the car's passenger side when I was doing an engine oil change & atf fluid drain fill. Will it get rid of the air conditioner after smell? Whenever the AC is on, it smells quite nice, but it stinks when I first turn it on.
