making your own is a better call all the way around. its cake to cut out a circle, just get some 1/2 in ply and cut out your own spacers

find someone who does hah.
all you need is a small piece of ply and a saw. even a handsaw (ew), would work.
you can dload 6.5" speaker cutouts from the web, just make sure to make them a little thick so they reach the factory holes.

i used mdf on these ones, which ended up being a fail. i mean they worked, but about a year later when i was in the doors again i replaced them with plywood ones cause the mdf cracked and split alot. also my dumb *** didnt pre-drill everything :p

theres pics of the ply ones i made floating around too. i duno where though hah

none of the tweeters ive put in actually fit perfect really. you need to put in some kind of little mount. Some shops (crappy ones) will actually just use glue or something.
ive also seen people use really strong tape, like gorilla tape. duno how it held up over time though.

i cant find the pic of mine showing what i used. but it was a roll of what looked like metal tape. non-adhesive though, its thin aluminum and has holes probobly every half inch through it. i just stretched a piece across the back of the tweeter and used small screws into the door panel to hold it in place. works great.

on the fe i used weather striping to to seal the tweeter to the grill then some hot glue to hold it in place. on my sonata i used some of the clips that came with tweeters no weather stripping both sound good. on the elantra i used the clips from the tweeters and weather stripping all is good on them too. so thats three sets in three differant ways and all sound a 100x better than oem tweeters hope this helps a little, and two sets are being pushed off of the radio and one set off of an amp.

Okay this is driving me crazy. I bought speakers at future shop, front doors being these :
http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/prod...speaker-sps-510-sps-510/10167701.aspx?path=898b40146d3184a5481b60f2141048b4en02
and the back ones being these : http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/prod...-way-car-speaker-6032cf/10121776.aspx?path=410ec38b1710736ba9508eac35ba9384en02
now i dont get why the site tells me all the wrong info, or maybe this thread is wrong. i have a 2004 hatchback. you say its both 6.5" front AND back? im confused...

also, what's the small speakers near the door handle in the front door? does that mean i need component speakers...like this? : http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/prod...akers-sps-610c-sps-610c/10167342.aspx?path=e08c1a3f2a397b67685b4bb737342840en02

Are you sure about the sizes for a 2004 Elantra needing 6-3/4 in the front and 6x9 in the rear?

Crutchfield.com claims they do not fit. Also this person here at this SITE with a GT was sent by Crutchfield.com 6-3/4" for the rear and when he took the OEMs out they had brackets on them which were attached and made them square.

Now I don't have a GT and so I don't have the tweeters on the front doors, but would really like them. Is that something I can do with a small aftermarket fix? Or would I need to replace the entire door panel?

Here is something I was wondering about and I feel it would be appropriate to post it in this thread:
On the website Crutchfield I noticed after I put in the 2005 Hyundai Elantra Sedan that I have as the car, certain 6x9 speakers were incompatible ("Does not fit") according to their site. Now I could see that happening with the 6-3/4" speakers because of the depth and all, but Im not clear on the reason behind the 6x9's. Can anyone shed light on this? Or is their site accurate?

And does anyone know if the mounting brackets that Crutchfield gives you with certain orders work in these cars?
